Description
Chandra taal means lake of moon. Located at an altitude of 4300 m, Chandra Tal Lake is just 6 kms away from the Kunzum Pass in Spiti and Lahaul district of Himachal Pradesh. Walking on the shore of Chandra Tal trek will offer an ultimate experience similar to the experience of going to the moon. Pass through two high mountain ranges named Moulkila and Chandrabhaga, which are quite challenging for mountaineers. Further, you will see the beautiful snow-covered mountain peaks and slopes. The color of water of this holy lake keeps changing from reddish to orange to blue to emerald green as the day ends.

Day 1: Manali to Khanol via Jagatsukh/Khanol to Chhika
The trekking expedition starts from Manali.
The trek on foot initiates and pass through variety of trees like maple, deodar, toss and oak. The sight is refreshing. Enjoy the meadows, fresh air, and take pics of the Rani Nallah. Continue towards Chika which is at the end of the vast meadow. But, climbing the hill and descending down to Chika is a better and easier route. Chika camp site is a huge, spacious patch of green. The Rani River flowing in the middle makes this place perfect for setting up the tents.

Day 2: Chhika to Seri
Trek along with Duhangan River up to 6 km. Seri is a beautiful river meadow. It is a lush green ground besides the river, and there is a huge waterfall at the head of the valley. Stay overnight at the shore of the river in the camp.

Day 3: Seri to Chandratal (Deo Tibba Base Camp)
Start your day by crossing the river and then trek on a zigzag path to reach Tenta. Cross the river to reach the right bank and then cross a glacier to reach the birthplace of Duhangan River. Stay overnight in the camp on this ridge for overnight stay.

Day 4: Deo Tibba to Base Camp Chhika
Start trekking uphill to reach Chandertal Lake. It is on the rocky cliff above the glacier. It is a holy place according to Hindu mythology. After coming down from the camp, start descending to Seri to fix camp here for overnight stay

Day 5: Chhika to Jagatsukh
Start trekking from the same route to reach Chikka and Barrage of the hydro project. From here jeep will pick you and drop you off at Manali
